really at a dilemma because we didn't know what we should do to give our dogs great nutrition
and essential benefits. So, we decided the best way for us, was to make our own dog food, that
way, we would know exactly what was in it and even alter it to fit the needs of individual dogs, if
needed. This is definitely not for every dog and we highly recommend that you consult your
veterinarian before making a switch, as too much of an immediate switch, could potentially harm
your dog.

Ritz's Homemade Dog Food Recipe
PLEASE READ BEFORE USING THIS RECIPE!!

You will need a 16-24qt. Pot. You can use two separate pots also. Whatever you have, will work.
5 lb ground beef, or chicken, pork, lamb etc. Whatever meat you have will work.
3/4 cup canola oil (vegetable oil will work too)
4 cloves of garlic (4-5)
16-32 cups of water. Depending on your pot size. You can pretty much just use however much to your
liking.
6-8 cups of processed (canned) or fresh, cut veggies. (carrots, cauliflower, bean sprouts, celery,
broccoli, potatoes, sweet potatoes, red peppers, green peppers, spinach, beets, lettuce, tomatoes, etc. NO
ONIONS!!!!) You could even add some fruits, but please, be careful what you add. Finely grated Apples
are a good one to add! (no peel though). I like to use about 1-2 grated granny smith apples to the mixture
but also squeezing them to get the juice out so it doesn't make the mixture mushy. You can really just use
anything in your fridge or pantry, but remember NO ONIONS, GRAPES, OR NUTS!
2 cans of kidney beans (optional)
1/2 cup molasses (optional)
42-84 oz Oatmeal (depending on how sticky you want it to be) (quick cooking oats)
Eggs can also be added for protein.
In your large pot, brown meat (if not already cooked), add canola oil and garlic. When well cooked,
add water. Bring to boil then add veggies (canned, fresh or frozen). Cook kidney beans in a
separate pan until fully cooked, then add to above mixture. Then add the oatmeal. Frequent stirring
is necessary. The mixture should be plump and sticky. You can also add brown rice and health
vitamins at this point if you want to. Once done, fill into containers and refrigerate.
Feed your dog to your liking. For a cocker, you would fee about 1-1 1/2 cups a day. Usually the
amount that you already feed.
