| Welcome to Ritz Cocker's home on the web! We are an AKC Reputable Breeder of parti colored American Cocker Spaniels. We are a dedicated family with a huge passion for the American Cocker Spaniel. We are located in the North West suburbs of Chicago, Illinois, and about 20 minutes south from the Wisconsin border. We don't have an outdoor kennel, because all of our dogs live inside, with us. All of our dogs and puppies are hand raised inside our home as well. It all started about 20 years ago when we raised and showed Golden Retrievers. After many years of doing that, we moved and we didn't have any dogs for a number of years once all of our goldens had passed on. Our very first golden was named "Ritz". When we were deciding on a name for our cockers many years after my goldens, we decided we wanted to tribute her, and name them "Ritz Cockers" which is exactly what we did! Since she was the dog that inspired me to get involved in showing, I thought it was the only appropriate thing to do. After a while we yearned for a dog again but we had to downsize to a much smaller dog. We still wanted a sporting dog that could be able to carry a bird like they were intended to do, and what better choice than the cocker spaniel? Plus, to us, once you have a sporting dog, you never have anything else! We looked for something we could show, but we didn't necessarily want to breed anymore. It took us nearly a year and a half of heartache, finding just the right dog. We had many possibilities but not the right people. Finally, our long struggle came to an end when we found our cocker spaniel, Maggie. The rest, is history! To ensure happy, healthy cockers we screen and test all of our dogs. Each dog is tested for hips, eyes, thyroid, heart, and much more. Plus each dog gets a weekly teeth brushing to ensure healthy gums and teeth! OFA and CERF are a big part of what we do. The eyes must be clear of any defect and so do the hips. Of course, the overall condition of our cockers takes an even bigger part. Providing good nutrition, lots of love and attention, and a clean environment are just a few of the things that we put into showing and raising Cockers. Our dogs are a member of our family, not just pets. They are all free to roam the house as they please. Each and every dog is raised in a family friendly environment around all ages, from babies to seniors. This way, they are used to unexpected people and not alarmed by their presence no matter the age of the person. We always let people hold and play with our puppies so they can get the most socialisation possible. They are even around cats and other dogs so if you have one, they won't be startled by them. We are not pet store breeders, and never have been. We will never sell to brokers, pet stores, puppy mills or backyard breeders. We proudly try to our fullest to breed standard correct, sound tempered, and affectionate Cocker Spaniels just as they should be! Where we live, we have many lakes for fishing, and boating. Our dogs do it all! They swim, run, try to fish. (Yes, sticking their noses in the lake is trying to fish!) They are never left out on family trips, and days out on the lake. They even take along their life jackets!! If you have any questions regarding our Cockers, puppies, or just a question, feel free to contact me! We are proud to Sign the "Pet Petition" We only feed the best for our cockers. That is why we use Nu Vet Vitamin tablets! See for yourself why this vitamin is like no other, Just by CLICKING HERE! | "Someday, all dogs go to heaven. When they part from us, it is like they take a large piece of our lives with them. They are here to be your friend, your watch dog, your soul mate, your guardian angel. We will cross together on Rainbow Bridge, and walk into the heavens through the pearl gates and regain the piece we were once missing." ~Unknown |
