Before considering a puppy: Congratulations! You have taken the first step to getting a cocker spaniel puppy, by reading this. Weather you want one for your family, kids, or just your self for a companion, you have come to the right place. I always tell people looking for a new pet, to please, CHECK YOUR LOCAL SHELTER first for a dog that would possibly suit your needs there. I cannot stress enough this point. I would much rather see a dog get adopted first as I am a huge supporter for shelter adoption. If adoption isn't for you, then continue to read and feel free to contact us about our dogs! ____________________________________________________________________________ Puppies: Q) When can I get one of your puppies? A) If we have a litter available, or you are on our waiting list, we usually let the puppies go to their new homes around 8-9 weeks old. Once they have been vet checked and evaluated, and they are clear, they are free to go home. Q) What if you don't have any puppies now? A) Puppies are extremely limited here. We don't breed a lot; usually once every 2-3 years, if that. So, when we do have a litter, they tend to go pretty fast. We won't always have puppies available. If you want to wait for an upcoming litter, you can contact us about our waiting list. If we are expecting a litter soon, you can be placed on the waiting list if it isn't full. If you do not want to wait, ask me for some breeders that have puppies ready now, or on the way. I only refer the best breeders I know. Q)I want a puppy from you! Can I come get it? First, if the puppy is not yet 8 or 9 weeks old, and ready for their new home, then we will need a deposit to hold a puppy if you are truly serious about buying it. Also, of course the puppy would have to be available and not on hold for someone else. We also like to make sure the specific puppy is a good fit for you and your family. It also has to be the puppy that will fulfill your needs for a puppy. We want the puppy to fit like a glove with the new owners. Each puppy is an individual, with individual personalities and traits, just like people. We want these traits and personality to match the potential buyer to-a-T! If you have been accepted as a potential buyer for one of our puppies, and all of these qualifications are met, then you are ready to own a Ritz puppy! Q) How much is a deposit price? A) A deposit is for a puppy that is already born and available for a new home. When you make a deposit on a puppy, you are telling us you are truly serious about one of our puppies, and you are completely committed to the puppy. I can not hold a puppy without a deposit. $100 deposit will hold the puppy of your choice. If you change your mind, the deposit is not refundable, however I would be happy to transfer the entire deposit to another available puppy if you change your mind. Q)I want to start breeding puppies and Cockers, can you provide me with a good quality puppy for breeding? I will pay you a lot for it! A) No. We will never sell a puppy for breeding no matter how much money the offer is. I would much rather give a puppy a good, pet home than take a large check. I am fully aware of the over population of dogs and cats and I don't want to contribute to it by supplying breeder dogs for other people. Puppies are a huge responsibility and you really have to know whats going on to successfully deliver a litter of puppies, especially cockers. Of course, this is knowledge you develop over time and with much experience. If you are looking for a puppy to breed for fun, this is not the place to get one. ___________________________________________________________________ Colors: Q) What colors do you usually have? Because, I am interested in a Buff A) Sorry, we don't breed Buffs or solids of any kind (such as buff, black, black and tan, chocolate etc.). All of our cockers are of the parti variety, which means they are white with different colored spots. We usually have red and white parti, black and white parti, and possible chocolate parti. ___________________________________________________________________ Shipping: Q) Why don't you ship? A) The reason we don't ship is because there is potential of dogs getting over stressed during the flight and going into shock, dying, or getting ill on the plane. In planes, they put the dog in cargo below the plane. Below there is very cold and noisy. There have also been cases of a dog being lost or stolen and then they end up in a pound or they are abused. There was a Champion dog that was "dog-napped" at O'Hare Airport in Chicago and was never found. Too many horror stories to mention! Q) I live all the way in (other country). Can I get one of your puppies? A) Sorry, no. We don't ever sell puppies out of the US. It's just not for us. We want to keep them here, in the US so that we know they are okay and so we know where they are. If I sell a puppy out of the US, I won't know if it is a puppy mill, or just a good home. ___________________________________________________________________ Health and Health Testing: Q) Are your dogs and puppies all healthy? A) We try to produce healthy dogs, I try to give them the best food and give them a clean and healthy environment. I always get my new puppies vet checked before letting them go. They also have up to date vaccinations, and researched pedigrees to ensure the utmost health!. Q) What about Health Testing? Do you do that? A) Yes. We have some of the best lines so we want to keep it that way. Some of the testing we do is, CERF, (Canine Eye Registration Foundation), which is eye testing to look at such things as cataracts and glaucoma. You cannot tell by the lines if the dog has cataracts, the only way to positively tell if by testing. Another one we do is OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals), which is testing for the hips for things such as hip dysplasia and other things. All this testing is very important and is done prior to breeding and must pass otherwise the dog will be just a pet and never a show prospect or used in our program. ___________________________________________________________________ AKC, and the Papers: Q) You gave me my AKC papers but I can't find them? A) Sometimes things do happen to your papers like, a spill happens or the dog chews it up or anything. You can request a copy of your papers through AKC, it takes about 7-10 days after my order is filled for you to receive them. The total cost for this is about $45.00. Q) Are Your Dogs all AKC Registered? A) Yes. I do not register with any other registration. AKC has higher standards to things such as the standard of the breed and care, for the puppies and also certain rules for puppy care I as a breeder must follow. If you have any other questions regarding purchase or puppy care, please don't hesitate to ask. We appreciate your thoughtfulness in contacting us. |
